Family Dentistry

At East Alabama Family Dentistry we love smiles of all ages! Whether your child is visiting the dentist for the very first time, or your grandparent is experiencing difficulty eating with loose dentures, our Auburn family dentist is here for your entire family's dental health needs.

Preventive Dentistry

The old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is also true for your smile! The American Dental Association® recommends visiting the dentist regularly for teeth cleanings, periodontal (gum) maintenance and a complete examination with necessary x-rays to help prevent dental disease and infection. Our preventive and diagnostic services also include:

  • Dental sealants are a great way to help your child avoid cavities in young permanent teeth; the best part is they do not require any drilling or anesthetic! Dental sealants are hard plastic coatings that are painted on the teeth to help make them more resistant to decay-causing bacteria.
  • The rate of oral cancer in the U.S. is increasing at an alarming pace. At regular examination visits, your dentist will perform an oral cancer screening to look for any areas of concern that should be monitored. Early detection is the key to successful treatment.
  • Did you know that 75% of adult tooth loss is due to periodontal disease? (perio.org) Periodontal disease is a non-painful infection of the gum tissue that can progress into the underlying bone; left untreated it will eventually cause teeth to become loose and fall out. Your dentist and hygienist will measure your gums and review dental x-rays to provide you with a periodontal health assessment at routine preventive care visits. Non-surgical treatment is available if periodontal disease is diagnosed in the early stages.

Improving Your Smile
and Your Health

If you have broken-down fillings or cracked, worn or sensitive teeth, a thorough dental examination is the first step to taking control of your oral health. Dr. Lucas will talk with you about your situation and offer recommendations to meet your needs. Restorative services, such as fillings, crowns, root canals, dentures, bridges and dental implants are options that may be considered to get your smile healthy again.

If you are interested in enhancing the appearance of your smile, cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers or a smile makeover with porcelain crowns offer creative solutions to design the smile you've always wanted.

Your Family's Oral Health

Emergency Dental Care

Dental infection and toothaches sometimes give us early warning signs, like a twinge of pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold or an intermittent dull pain. If you are experiencing dental symptoms of any nature, please contact us to schedule an examination. Your dentist will diagnose the problem and provide you with a plan to get you comfortable.

  • If you experience severe pain, swelling or mouth trauma after our normal business hours, a local hospital emergency room can help stabilize your condition until you can be seen.
